Windlesham. Life
Windlesham.life is the premier community website all about our special village. It has been created by three longstanding villagers who have a passion for and recognise Windlesham as the intelligent, compassionate and remarkable community it is.
It is a chance to let everyone see what is going on and create real interest in all areas of village life. There are regular news stories, support for our local charities and the opportunity for everyone in the village to publish their own messages and articles.
Our mission is to see our community have the loudest voice when it comes to making decisions about Windlesham.
By creating this completely free platform, we hope greater numbers of our community can more easily keep track of the exciting news and events shaping our village and become inspired to work ever more closely together to deliver the real needs of Windlesham.

There has been some concern that Windlesham Parish Council (WPC) have, over the past 13 years or so, been desirous of building themselves plush new offices of a magnitude that anyone might consider self indulgent. Their so far failed £1m pavilion project in Lightwater is one example and a further concern at apparent neglect in maintaining existing community assets giving rise to their unavailability to parish residents as a consequence.
Acquiring new Council Premises for a nominal sum would give potential to WPC selling off the existing offices and meeting facilities at Lightwater and at what benefit, if any, to the Parish community ? The apparent proposal to sell the Depot at Hook Mill Lane, long shrouded in secrecy, with all proceeds now apparently being applied to the Lightwater budgets is a negative asset sale example. The entire question of WPC needing new offices or acquiring other assets is not really a valid or pressing need. Anyone might agree that the existing offices, if properly managed, are more than adequate, the meeting room isn’t used due to a severe lack of maintenance and the office is only open to the public 3 half days a week from 0900 to 1400 hrs. It’s a small, part time, operation.
Such circumstances beg questions in the matter of the Heathpark Wood Community Centre Building and more generally about the second survey with regard to the Councils adoption of further community assets.
A Planning Applications Committee meeting at Surrey Heath Borough Council on 22nd of May 2025 at 7.00pm considered this application.
Whilst the Officers recommendation was to grant subject to conditions and referral to the Secretary of State as a Departure from the Development Plan, the planning committee refused the application by a majority of two.
This application is therefore REFUSED
